Education Forum on Campus

Forum with U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna and Trustee Patrick Ahrens

Ro KhannaPlease join Congressman Ro Khanna and Foothill-De Anza district Trustee Patrick Ahrens for an education forum:

Patrick AhrensThey will discuss topics such as increasing access to higher education and addressing the student loan crisis.

This Week

ICC Cultural Day Is Tomorrow

ISA poster and snacksThe Inter Club Council’s Cultural Day is tomorrow, June 11, from 3-6 p.m. in the Main Quad!

This event is an annual showcase of De Anza’s different cultural clubs. Stop by to learn more about the clubs, enjoy great food and watch entertaining performances! Find more information on the campus events calendar.

Equity Champion Awards

Congratulations to this year’s Equity Champion Award winners! The awards celebrate individuals and groups who are making significant contributions to inclusion at De Anza College and to advancing the college’s vision of equity, social justice and multicultural education.

You can read more about each winner on the Equity Champion Awards website. The award winners will be honored at an event tomorrow, June 11, from 2-3:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B. Please RSVP to attend.


Upcoming Events

Music Department Events

auditorium seats seen from stageThe Music Department is hosting several events in the upcoming weeks. This Saturday, June 15, stop by the VPAC at 7:30 p.m. to attend the Music Department Concert – which will feature the orchestra, chorale, Vintage Singers, Vocal Flight jazz choir and special guest band Silk Road. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for the general public.

There will be two free events next Monday, June 17 – a chamber music performance in A-11 at 12:30 p.m. and an “Evening of Jazz” in the VPAC at 7:30 p.m. The following Friday, June 21, there will also be a free vocal recital in A-11 at 3:30 p.m. Lastly, there will be a free Piano Extravaganza in A-11 on Sunday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m. More information on the Music Department events webpage.

DASG De-Stress Week Start Next Monday

DASG logoDASG is hosting a variety of activities next week to help students de-stress this quarter! Next Monday, June 17, you can stop by the Fireside Lounge for arts and crafts and free boba tea and ice cream! Next Tuesday, June 18, there will be therapy dogs and more boba tea in the Fireside Lounge.

Lastly, next Thursday, June 20, you can participate in a Smash Brothers video game showdown and enjoy boba. Find more information on the college events calendar.

Peace Meals Tasting Event Next Tuesday

Peace Meals Unlimited will be visiting the Food Pantry in RSS 127 next Tuesday, June 18, at noon for a tasting event. All registered students are welcome to grab a hot meal to sample Peace Meals Unlimited’s fall offerings. Peace Meals Unlimited is part of the India Heritage Foundation.

45th Annual Student Film Show

The 45th annual Student Film and Video Show, hosted by the Film/TV Department, is Friday, June 21, at 7 p.m. The event celebrates the best narrative, nonfiction, experimental and animated shorts and screenplays produced by Film/TV students this academic year.

The annual Chadwick Okamoto Awards in animation, production and screenwriting and the screenplay competition award winners will also be announced at the event. Admission is free for the event, which will take place in the VPAC. Please call 408.864.8391 for more information.


Give Your Input

De Anza Presidential Search

Chancellor Lee Lambert would like your input on important factors to consider in the search for the next president of De Anza College.

As you may know, the district is conducting a nationwide search for the best candidates to fill the president's position. The chancellor is gathering input on the challenges and opportunities facing the college’s next leader, as well as the characteristics that will make an ideal candidate.

Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey no later than 5 p.m. this Friday, June 14. All responses will be treated as confidential. Survey results will be used to develop the president profile, which will serve as a guide for candidates in preparing their applications and for the search committee's evaluation of candidates.


Graduation Reminders

De Anza will hold its 57th annual commencement on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Santa Clara Convention Center. Be sure to check deanza.edu/graduation for the latest updates and announcements.

Everyone is invited to submit digital Congrats Cards for a favorite grad, or the entire Class of 2024.

If you're planning to graduate this year, please remember these deadlines:

There is no deadline to participate in the commencement ceremony, but you must apply for your degree by June 28 in order to have it awarded for spring quarter.
