Members of a college community – students, faculty, staff and visitors – must be able to study and work in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.
It is the policy of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District to prohibit unlawful harassment, including unwelcome sexual advances or conduct, requests for sexual favors, or other conduct of a sexual nature when submission to the conduct is made a condition of employment, academic status or progress.
Federal regulations under Title IX prohibit unwelcome sexual conduct that is severe, pervasive and objectively offensive.
Immediate action shall be taken against anyone determined to be in violation of the district policy. There is no time limit on reporting a complaint to the Title IX coordinator. However, if the responding party is no longer attending De Anza College, or a significant amount of time has passed since the alleged incident occurred, then the college's jurisdiction and the ability to investigate, respond and provide remedies may be limited. At that point, it is up to the discretion of the Title IX coordinator to pursue the complaint.
