The mission of the Online Education Department at De Anza College is to empower students, faculty, and staff by providing essential resources and support for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses integrated with our college’s Course Management system.

We are committed to embracing educational technology advancements that will promote an inclusive and accessible online learning environment, ensuring the success of both learners and instructors.

Objectives

  • Understand the requirements of the campus community and cultivate a culture of collaborative decision-making to ensure equity and inclusivity in all our practices.
  • Provide training and support to our online community to ensure the success of learners and instructors

Need to Learn How to Use Canvas?

We launched our enhanced Online Teaching & Learning Certification training, which equips faculty with the tools to create engaging, accessible, and effective online courses. This new Online Teaching & Learning Certification covers RSI, Accessibility, Design, and Assessment, all in one comprehensive course.

This new certification is required for faculty teaching at least 30% asynchronously, as outlined in the latest Faculty Association and FHDA District Memorandum of Understanding. To ensure this training applies to you, please consult with your Dean. Once you receive confirmation, please use this form to register: De Anza Online Teaching and Learning Certification – Fill out form.

A Canvas Orientation course remains available for those who need to learn the platform but do not teach online or teach mainly synchronously.
