Committee On Online Learning (COOL)

To support, improve, and enhance online learning at De Anza College.

Charge

  1. Communication and Collaboration: Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders on topics related to online education. Collect feedback and data from the campus community related to the needs and challenges of online education from students and faculty and communicate information and recommendations back to Academic Senate for use in the decision-making process.
  2. Curriculum Evaluation and Approval of Online and Hybrid Modalities: Work with the Curriculum Committee to maintain equitable and rigorous academic standards in online and hybrid course offerings and ensure that these align with De Anza’s mission, educational master plan, and equity plan re-imagined. Review and approve Distance Education forms as part of curriculum processes.
  3. Innovative Tools and Technologies: Research, evaluate and communicate to the campus about current, emerging, and equitable online educational technologies, evaluation tools and pedagogy across multiple teaching modalities. Foster innovation and engagement within the De Anza community on these topics.
  4. Online Teaching Training: Coordinate with the Online Education Office and other areas at De Anza to provide faculty with ongoing training and support necessary for effective equitable and highquality online instruction.
