Community Engaged Scholar
If you have taken three Engaged Learning courses, you are eligible to be a Community Engaged Scholar. Engaged Learning classes are marked with an "E" next to the section number. For example ICS 17.1E.
Once you are a Community Engaged Scholar, your transcript will include the statement "This student is a Community Engaged Scholar.”
Why Take Community Engaged Learning Classes:
- Students often cite engaged learning as one of the most memorable and impactful parts of their educational experience
- Allows for career exploration
- Participants see the real world implications of what they are learning in class
- Narrows the gap between college and communities.
- Helps increase your ability to make a difference in the world
Why be a Community Engaged Scholar:
- It can help build your resume to increase job opportunities
- It can strengthen your transfer application
- Taking an "E" recognized classes means that you did work engaging with your community and provides recognition
How to Apply to be a Community Engaged Scholar
