Board of Trustees Will Fill Vacancy in Trustee Area 2
The Foothill-De Anza Board of Trustees will appoint to fill the vacancy in Trustee Area 2 — central Sunnyvale – after Trustee Patrick Ahrens resigned on Dec. 1 to assume a position in the California Legislature. The elected
trustee would serve the remainder of Ahrens’ term, which ends in December 2026.
In order to be eligible, applicants must be California citizens, over the age of 18, registered to vote and residents of Trustee Area 2. Applicants must also send a letter of interest and resume to chancellor@fhda.edu by Jan. 3, 2025. The full list of qualifications and timeline of appointment can be found on the district website.
Honors and Achievements
De Anza Alum Featured on UC Website
De Anza alum Vinh Ton was featured in an article on UC transfers. Ton is working toward a B.S. in Statistical Data Science and minors in Theater and Dance and Asian American Studies at UC Davis. The article highlights his work to build a community among transfer students as a Student Outreach Ambassador for the Transfer Opportunity
Program at Davis.
Even though Ton was admitted into several UCs right out of high school, he chose De Anza for his first two years of college so that he could save money and stay close to his family. He was then able to transfer with his tuition and fees covered by a Pell Grant and several scholarships. You can read the full article on the UC website.
Flea Market Earns Silver in Metro Readers Best of Silicon Valley
Metro Silicon Valley readers awarded the De Anza Flea Market second place in their Best of Silicon Valley 2024 flea market category. Congratulations to all of the students, staff and faculty members that work to make the market a success. As a reminder, the flea market is open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month – rain or shine.

DASG Gauging Interest in Potential Talent Show
The De Anza Student Government (DASG) is thinking about hosting their first ever talent show and would like your input. If you would attend a talent show as a performer or an audience member, please fill out the interest form before the end of the quarter – this Friday, Dec. 13. Please note that the form is not an official sign-up.
