The Office of the Associate Vice President of Instruction oversees the Academic Services Division and Learning Resources Division, both of which provide services to faculty, staff and students across campus.
Dear Campus Community,
I am very pleased to let you know that, following a comprehensive search process, Lorrie Ranck has been selected as the permanent Associate Vice President of Instruction. Her appointment, effective immediately, is pending official board approval in January.
Lorrie has served in the Interim AVP role since September while continuing to fulfill her responsibilities as Dean of Learning Resources. Before joining De Anza College as Dean in 2014, Lorrie worked at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, first as Director of Curriculum Support/Instruction -- with areas of responsibility including Professional Development and management of the Curriculum review process -- and then as Director of Information Technology and Innovation.
Her previous experience also includes serving for five years at the University of San Francisco as Director of the office focused on Learning Communities, and for three years as program coordinator for a comprehensive, interdisciplinary Learning Community for first-year USF students. Lorrie earned a master's degree from USF in International and Multicultural Education, and a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Wyoming.
Please join me in congratulating Lorrie and welcoming her as the permanent AVP of Instruction.
