Program Pathways

Starting Out

student and instructor at Haas machineHere's a good way to start if you are taking our accelerated daytime program – which is ideal for students who want to earn their certificate as quickly as possible. The same courses are also available as 12-week classes in the evening.

  • First: Take DMT 80 (six weeks) for an introduction to machining, measurement and CNC
  • Next: Take DMT 84A and 84B (six weeks each) to learn CNC operation, setup and G & M code programming.
  • Also: Take DMT 90 (12 weeks) – offered in winter quarter

Taking these four courses will complete the requirement for a Certificate of Achievement - Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist. (See the complete list of DMT certificate and degree programs.)
