Review Team Visiting This Week

Members of an external peer review team will visit campus tomorrow and Wednesday, Oct. 1 and 2, as part of the process for reaffirming De Anza’s accreditation. The team members will hold two open meetings during their visit. (Zoom details are listed in Outlook invitations for both events.)

  • Tuesday, Oct. 1: Open Forum
    • 1-2 p.m.
    • MLC 255 and online via Zoom
  • Wednesday, Oct. 2: Team Share-Out
    • 1-1:30 p.m.
    • MLC 255 and online via Zoom

Team members will also hold smaller, scheduled meetings with invited faculty members, classified professionals and administrators over the two days. The visiting representatives are

  • Brent Calvin (team chair), Superintendent and President, College of the Sequoias
  • Rick MacLennan (team vice chair), Chancellor, Ventura County Community College District
  • Marilyn Brock, Faculty Accreditation Coordinator and Professor, Coastline Community College
  • Paul Creason, Dean of Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Nursing and Library, Long Beach City College
  • Kevin Bontenbal, Vice President and Staff Liaison, Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges

During their visit, the team will focus on two core inquiries that were developed after reviewing the college's Institutional Self-Evaluation Report, along with updates on those topics that were submitted earlier this fall by the college. (The team is also discussing a third inquiry, relating to Foothill-De Anza district procedures, with district representatives today.) More details can be found at deanza.edu/accreditation.
