DMT Program Highlighted in New Video
A new video highlights De Anza’s highly regarded Design and Manufacturing Technologies programs, as the latest installment in a series that shows why the college is Tops in Career Training.
"If I could describe my experience at De Anza, it would be 'life changing,'" DMT student Tukae Tuipulotu says in the video.
The video is the third installment in the series, developed by the Office of Communications in collaboration with the Career Technical Education Division and departments that offer CTE programs. Earlier installments include an overview of career training at De Anza and a video focusing on Business and Marketing programs.
In the new video, department chair Mike Appio explains that the DMT program offers hands-on training with the latest equipment in 3D printing, robotic manufacturing and other fields where skilled workers are in high demand. Students can choose from a variety of certificate and degree programs.
Appio was honored this month as De Anza College Educator of the Year by the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, which recognized him for helping to build the DMT program into a regional powerhouse – known for innovative curriculum and partnerships with leading makers of precision design and manufacturing equipment.
The DMT program is great for those who are new to these fields, says student Elizabeth Weishaar. She added: "However, I think there’s also a lot to be gained if you are somebody who’s in the industry, and … want to see career development."
Future installments in the series are planned to highlight individual career training programs and groups of related offerings – including arts and communication, automotive technology, child development, environmental studies, health and nursing, information technology, and law and public safety.
