Special Topics


A special topics course hours are dependent on the discipline. Special topics courses are loaded. To comply with Title V, the special topic title must be indicated in the class schedule (on-line and printed) any time a special topics course is offered, this is also necessary for students transcripts.
A special topics course follows a standard lecture course outline. The course description includes an additional sentence stating that topics will vary. Examples are:

Concepts, theory, and practice pertaining to the specific topic as predetermined by the guest artist or industry professional.

The topic studied is different for each section of this course and may include Bay Area film festival and nonprofit organization screenings and events (see course note in quarterly schedule of classes).

Topics in the social sciences that deal with one or more of the political, sociological, legal, cultural, psychological, historical, and/or economic aspects of our contemporary world.

Topics relating to California's sites and monuments through a historical perspective of various eras and major architects who created or influenced them. Consideration of the political, socioeconomic, geographical and environmental conditions providing the historical and cultural context in which these styles evolved.

The topic studied changes each quarter (see subtitle in quarterly schedule of classes).
