Strategic Planning: A New Chapter
De Anza College transitioned to a basic aid (community-supported) funding model in fall 2026. Under this model, revenue is no longer directly driven by enrollment growth in the same way it was under the previous apportionment-based funding model.
This transition provides an opportunity to sharpen our focus on one of our most important responsibilities: enabling students’ timely educational goal attainment.
The college approved its 2027-2030 Strategic Plan in fall 2025, when enrollment growth
was a central focus. During the May 6, 2026, town hall, the college community reached consensus that the previously approved Strategic
Plan should be revised to align with the district’s current funding model and our
evolving priorities.
The revised plan will move away from an emphasis on enrollment growth and focus on Completion Through Persistence, with an emphasis on enabling students to make sustained progress toward and timely attainment of their educational goals.
During the 2026-2027 academic year, the College Planning Committee will lead a campuswide process to revise the Strategic Plan. Faculty, classified professionals, administrators and students are invited to participate through town halls and other engagement opportunities as the college reviews its progress, identifies priorities, considers draft revisions and develops a shared direction for the years ahead.
This work will also connect strategic planning with other major collegewide efforts, including the development of a new program review process and updates to program maps. Together, these efforts will help align our planning and institutional priorities around a shared purpose: enabling students’ timely educational goal attainment.
