Footnote Information

A footnote is required by the State to provide additional information about the class to students. All class footnotes are entered in Banner System (SSATEXT screen) by division schedulers. Please contact the Scheduling Office by emailing scheduling@fhda.edu if you have any questions.

Footnotes must be written in the following format in order to display on the Schedule of Classes website.


Format:  DEPT + COURSE Number + SECTION Number + COLON + FOOTNOTE


Below are types of classes that require a footnote with examples:

  • Hybrid Class (Y) - class meets on campus and online. Ex: ACCT 1A.01Y - TR 12:30-2:20PM AT205; TBA TBA ONLINE.
    • ACCT-001A.01Y: HYBRID, meets on-campus and online.  This class meets each week on-campus and online as noted in the class listing. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.   • On-Campus, 100% Face-to-Face - class meets fully on campus. Ex: ECON 2.01 - MTWR 12:30-1:20PM ADM101.
    • ECON-002.01: Fully ON-CAMPUS. This class meets on-campus each week on scheduled days and times noted in the class listing.
  • Online, 100% Asynchronous (starts 50-99Z) - class does not have scheduled meetings. Ex1: ICS 25.50Z - TBA TBA ONLINE; Ex2: BIOL 10.50Z (LEC & LAB class) - CLAS TBA TBA ONLINE, LAB TBA TBA ONLINE.
    • ICS-025.50Z: Fully ONLINE. This class does not have scheduled meetings. Students can log in anytime to do the required weekly course work. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.   • Online, 100% Synchronous (starts 01-49Z) - class meets fully online each week on scheduled days and times. Ex1: MATH 1C.01Z - MTWRF 10:30-11:20AM ONLINE; Ex2: PHYS 2A.01Z (LEC & LAB class) - CLAS MTWR 9:30-10:20AM ONLINE, LAB R 10:30-13:20AM ONLINE.
    • MATH-001C.01Z: Fully ONLINE. This class meets each week on scheduled days and times as noted in the class listing. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.   • Online, Combo Asynchronous + Synchronous (starts 01-49Z) - class meets online with some scheduled meetings. Ex1: HUMI 1. 01Z M 8:30-9:20AM ONLINE, TBA TBA ONLINE; Ex2: CHEM 1A.01Z - CLAS MWF 10:30-11:20AM ONLINE, LAB MW 8:30-10:20AM ONLINE, LAB TBA TBA ONLINE.
    • HUMI 1.01Z: Fully ONLINE. This is an online class with SOME scheduled meetings as noted in the class listing. The rest of the class can be completed independently each week on the student's own time. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.   • Off-campus Class (F) - must provide off-campus address and/or contact information.
    • SPED-234Z-02F: This is a 12-week class and begins the week of September 26, 2016. This class is located at the Hope Services Alfred Street Site, 3080 Alfred St., Santa Clara, CA 95054.
  • Noncredit Class - must provide details of the class and who should register for it.
    • AUTO-350A-61: This noncredit class mirrors the credit class AUTO 50A61. Noncredit courses are intended to gain general knowledge, learn a new skill, upgrade existing skills or enrich understanding of a wide range of topics. This class is non-transcriptable and cannot be used to earn an associate degree nor be used as transfer. You can earn a non-transcriptable vocational certificate upon completion. This is a 12-week class.
  • Short Duration Class - must provide the duration of the class, with start and end dates and how many weeks it meets.
    • DMT-084A-55: Accelerated class meets four days a week for six weeks beginning November 7th. This is the second of four classes available in the accelerated day program. See www.deanza.edu/dmt or call (408) 864-8283 for more information.
  • Special Programs - must provide details about the name of the special program, how students can enroll and contact information.
    • HUMA-020.-P1D: This is a Puente Project Learning Community class. It requires concurrent enrollment in LART-211-.P1D. For more information, contact Brenda Gonzalez at deanzapuente@deanza.edu or (408) 864-8555.
  • Special Projects or Internship Class - must provide registration details and/or general information about the class.
    • PARA-064.-55: This 2-unit internship class is limited to continuing De Anza paralegal majors. Internship must be arranged during the quarter prior to the beginning of the class. Interested students should contact the instructor at (408) 864-8563.
