Cultural Anthropology

Course Description

This course introduces the study of human cultures, concepts, methods, and theories used in the comparative study of socio-cultural systems with an emphasis on understanding and appreciating human diversity. A holistic and cross-cultural perspective is used to explore political, economic, and kinship systems; language, art, and religion; race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and class; culture change and the impact of colonialism and globalization. The course focuses on applying an anthropological perspective to contemporary social issues.
