Intermediate English as a Second Language


Course Description

This course focuses on developing English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, with an emphasis on explicit and direct grammar instruction. Vocabulary-building and writing are emphasized. Pronunciation practice and discussion of cross-cultural topics are also included.

ESL 444.02Y: NON-CREDIT HYBRID, meets on-campus and online. This class meets each week on campus and online as noted in the class listing. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. This class is non-transcriptable and cannot be used to earn an associate degree nor be used as transfer. You can earn a non-transcriptable vocational certificate upon completion. This is a 12-week class.
