Course Description
This course is an introduction to De Anza College that includes information about programs, services, policies, degrees, certificates, transfer requirements, and college culture. Students will focus on strategies needed for academic success and development of a preliminary Comprehensive Educational Plan.

COUN-005-1UM -UMOJA Program. This is a HYBRID class that has both online and ON CAMPUS attendance requirements. The UMOJA program is designed to help students succeed through community-building, linked classes and African Diaspora focused curriculum. Concurrent enrollment in EWRT-01A.1UM, AFAM-010.1UM and LART-250.1UM required. For more information, contact Maurice Canyon at email:canyonmaurice@fhda.edu. This is an hybrid class that meets each week on scheduled days and times as noted in the class listing. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.
