Beginning Karate
Course Description
This course introduces the discipline of beginning karate, which includes a global and historical examination of the sport, rules, equipment, and etiquette. Students will analyze and demonstrate the application of traditional Japanese Shotokan karate techniques, including blocking, punching, kicking, striking, and stances. Students will strive to understand and apply basic exercise physiology, nutrition, flexibility, and strength concepts to improve their physical condition. Considerations for the variables that occur due to age, gender, and physical conditions will be covered.
