Introduction to the Visual Arts
Course Description
This course explores visual imagery throughout the world, for the purpose of refining visual literacy skills. Works of art will be studied by means of formal analysis and medium, the social experiences of artists, the function of works of art in their original environment, and comparison of works from different cultures. The primary emphasis will be on paintings, graphic works, and sculpture.

ARTS 1A.02A: Open to all students who meet normal course prerequisites, have been accepted by formal application to the Study Abroad Florence program and have paid a program fee of ~$3,400 (which may include Financial Aid) plus airfare. All classes require permission of the instructor, Ms. Deborah Pasturel, pastureldeborah@fhda.edu. Majority of Course work takes place in Florence, Italy.
