Advanced Student Teaching Practicum
Course Description
The course demonstrates advanced developmentally appropriate early childhood teaching competencies under guided supervision. Students will build on the basic teaching skills in a classroom experience to make more advanced connections between theory and practice, develop professional behaviors, and build a more comprehensive understanding of children and families. Advanced competency will include completing a child assessment. (This course meets the NAEYC Standards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5; and NBPTS Standards 1 through 9.)

CD-051B.2CZ: This class is restricted to students in the CDE Apprenticeship Grant (CAI Grant). This is an online class with schedule meetings as noted on the class listings. Class Meetings: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Online) Seminar: Thursday evenings, 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM (Online) Requirements: Completion of Mid-Quarter and Final activities is required. These activities must be conducted in a certified childcare program and not in your work program. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course, a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.
