Input requested on draft Strategic Enrollment Management 2027-30 Plan and Thank You Strategic Plan 2027-30
Oct. 20, 2025
Dear De Anza College Community,
I am pleased to announce the premiere of our new draft Strategic Enrollment Management Plan 2027-30.
This comprehensive plan was developed through our participation in a Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Academy sponsored by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office in June 2025. A dedicated team of 10 classified professionals, faculty members and administrators from Instruction, Student Services and Communications worked collaboratively to create a strategic roadmap for our college's future.
The draft plan identifies seven strategic goals designed to promote moderate enrollment growth of approximately 3-5% from 2027-28 to 2029-30. While our district now operates as community-supported (basic aid), this plan recognizes the continued importance of maximizing funding opportunities through the Student Centered Funding Formula (SCFF), which maintains categorical funding implications for the college. The plan thoughtfully addresses regional demographic shifts and focuses on improving outcomes for key student population groups, while drawing upon the vital work of De Anza's Strategic Plan 2027-2030 and Student Equity initiatives to achieve meaningful institutional transformation.
We encourage all members of our campus community to review the draft Strategic Enrollment Management Plan and share your insights, questions and recommendations. Your feedback will be instrumental in refining this plan to best serve our students and community. I invite you to provide feedback by November 14, 2025.
I also want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has engaged in recent conversations about our draft Strategic Plan 2027-2030, with input due by October 31. The various townhalls and discussions through our shared governance groups have yielded valuable insights that will strengthen our strategic direction as we prepare for our next Educational Master Plan. These important conversations have resulted in additional objectives being incorporated into the draft Strategic Plan, including:

These important conversations have resulted in additional objectives being incorporated into the draft Strategic Plan, including:
- Expansion of zero-textbook cost (ZTC) degree and certificate pathways
- Measuring student sense of belonging, meaningful connections and engagement
- Additional environmental considerations, such as reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
- Tracking the number of classified staff professional development opportunities each year
- Tracking the number of unduplicated students who visit our Villages each year, with a goal to increase access and engagement
Your thoughtful participation in our planning processes reflects the collaborative
spirit that makes De Anza College exceptional. Together, we are building a future
that continues to center on institutional excellence, equity for all students and
innovation that will prepare our students for seamless entry into the workforce.
Thank you for your continued commitment to De Anza College and the students we serve.
Sincerely,
