Welcome to Fall 2025 Quarter and Important Reminders
Sept. 22, 2025
Dear De Anza College Community,
I hope you are having a great beginning to the 2025-2026 academic school year. It was wonderful to see so many of you at our district and college Opening Days (college presentations available at deanza.edu/president/presentations.html) and at Welcome Day for our students. There is nothing more inspiring than gathering with colleagues and then seeing the campus full of students excitedly getting ready for the academic year to begin. Thanks to each of you for your part in introducing students to De Anza College.
This week, you will receive the annual survey on Opening Day and Welcome Day activities — please be sure to provide your comments on what went well and what can be improved. And as a reminder, please provide feedback on the Draft Strategic Plan 2027-2030 at deanza.edu/strategic/draft2027.
I also want to thank you for continuing to assist our students as they navigate their way through the first week. Please refer them to the Quarter Guide and the Student Services Guide, which have valuable information for students including hours of operation. Please note that the Bookstore has extended hours for the beginning of fall.
There is much happening in the world currently, and the college is here to support you and our students. As a reminder, if immigration officers come to campus, they should be referred to the Office of the President. This and related information can be found on the webpage with resources for undocumented students and on the posters placed campuswide. Thank you for treating our students and one another with kindness and respect and helping to navigate these (sometimes difficult) situations with objectivity, vigilance and care.
I look forward to seeing you throughout the fall quarter. With extensive planning underway and many new initiatives already in place, it promises to be an exciting and eventful academic year. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if I can assist you in any way.
In partnership,
Omar
