SSPBT Meeting Notes - May 18, 2017

Attending Members: Argyriou, Cortez, Doan, Glapion (co-chair), LeBleu-Burns, Mandy, Mieso, Phillips, Shears, Ward, White-Daniels

There were no amendments to the agenda and one made to the notes.

Program Review Criteria

The committee reviewed the criteria to review program reviews. Program Reviews should be entered into TrakDat and can be exported into a PDF file to be reviewed by a committee member.

Accreditation Report Review

The Accreditation Report has been posted and everyone is encouraged to read through the report and give Mallory Newell feedback by Tuesday, May 30th.

Program & Committee Updates

Argyriou reported on Reading & Language Arts

  • There is concern about the decline in enrollment in the Basic Skills courses since they have been lower than normal for this time of year.

Cortez reported on SSRS

  • FYE, Umoja, and Puente have new cohorts
    • Orientation for programs start in July
    • Online interest forms can be found on their websites here.
  • Year-end celebrations:
    • Puente was held on May 11th
    • Umoja will be held on June 1st
    • FYE will be held on June 8th

White-Daniels reported on Counseling

  • Graduation week is set for Monday 22 - 26th from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
    • They will be mobile to meet the students where they are on campus.
    • There will be a raffle, giveaways, and drawings

Doan reported on the Chemistry Department

  • They will be losing two full time faculty this year in their area.

Mieso reported on Outreach

  • They will be doing a live Facebook event on 22nd from 6 - 6:30 pm for
    new students.
  • The Men of Color program will be going on a UC Davis trip on May 26th
    • They still have empty seats so please contact them at x 8327 if interested.

Lisa reported on Financial Aid

  • Reviewing and closing out scholarships that are due next Friday.
  • Financial Aid for 2017-18 is already up

Ward reported on Veterans

  • Memorial Day celebration will be held in the RSS lobby from 12:00 - 1:00 pm on
    Thursday May 25th

LeBleu-Burns reported on EOPS & Foster Youth

  • New fall applications are being accepted for EOPS from May 15 - June 15th
  • EOPS is holding their year-end celebration on June 16th
  • May is National Foster Youth Month

Philips reported on the next Career Event

  • There will be a student success advice panel discussion on June 14th from
    12:30 pm - 1:30 pm in conference rooms A & B.
    • They will be reaching out to the different campus programs about this event

Shears reported on DSPS

  • Scheduling transition meetings with the new high school students.
  • They are working on priority registration for summer and fall quarters.
  • The accessible lab stations for DSPS students are in progress.
  • Looking into using SARSTrak to gather more MIS data.
