SSPBT Meeting Notes - April 20, 2017
Attending Members: Argyriou, Cook (co-chair), Cortez, Doan, Glapion (co-chair), Kirkpatrick, LeBleu-Burns, Mandy, Phillips, Robles, Shears, Ward, White-Daniels
There were no amendments to the agenda or to the notes.
Program Review Status Updates
- At the next SSPBT meeting teams will be assigned to review Program Reviews.
- Resource requests for the area such as furniture should be provided at this time as well.
Equity Plan Update
- Cook recommended that the individual equity teams created in the different areas be condensed to one SSPBT sub-committee.
- The SSPBT equity core team would report on:
- Equity Plan accountability
- How we are serving the students
- Implementation of the Equity Plan
- Increase collaboration in the areas
- Shears agreed to be the Chair along with White-Daniels and Ward volunteering to be on the committee. Representatives from other Student Services areas will be asked to be on the committee as well.
Program & Committee Updates
Sheila reported on Starfish, EduNav, and Mellon Scholars Program
- The Starfish core team meets weekly and includes faculty and staff from all over campus

- They will start working on a web page to make information available to everyone
- Would like to do a Starfish presentation at a SSPBT meeting
- EduNav is a Career and Educational Planning software for students
- Many universities use it and now it is moving into the community college area
- Will be looking at it for possible Ed Plan creation
- The Mellon Scholars Program was created by the FA & DA humanities faculty
- From this grant a certificate in humanities has been created
- There will be paid internships, workshops, and a transfer pathway to USF
Cortez reported on SSRS Events
- Open House is coming up this Saturday, April 29th
- Umoja will be vising UC Davis for a regional conference.
- FYE will be going on a Mission Murals Tour.
- LinkedIn will be hosting the Puente end of year celebration again this year.
Philips reminded everyone the Career Fair for De Anza students is coming up
