Services Town Hall, which all Student Services faculty and staff are invited to
attend, to address the budget reductions.
Reviewed Agenda and Notes
There were no additions to the
agenda. Notes from the April 6th meeting were reviewed and approved.
Budget – Cook provided a handout with the latest FHDA budget
scenarios, also available on the district web site. FHDA has a 30 million dollar problem,
of which 15 million
(or 50%) is De Anza’s share. Last
year when the state cut categorical program money, De Anza funded with general fund
dollars and Instruction took a larger hit. This time it is Student Services turn.
Cook reviewed the time line for
the budget reductions. She will
meet with each of the Student Services department and programs to answer
questions.
Recommendations need to be sent
to College Council for the May 11th meeting.
Student Services “B” Budget Reduction Criteria – Haynes provided a
handout of the latest criteria document, which has been revised to meet the new
deadline. SSPBT members agreed Student Services managers would provide the
SSPBT a summary of their programs PRs, using the criteria outlined. Cook asked
Moreno to work with the managers on a schedule for April 20 and 27th
SSPBT meetings and to notify everyone. Click on this link to find SSPBT "B" Budget Criteria.
SSPBT Representation – Cook asked SSPBT members from the Academic Senate and Classified Senate to request new representatives from their respective group before the end of the Academic Year. This would provide the new representatives time to become familiar with the SSPBT.
Future Agenda Items – Program Reviews and Accreditation Preparation
Student Services Town Hall – Cook and Murphy hosted a Town Hall for
Student Services regarding the budget reductions, attended by approximately 75
of the Student Services faculty and staff.
Next meeting is Wednesday, April
20, 2011.
