Meeting Notes - November 5, 2015

There were no amendments to the agenda or the notes.
Student Equity Presentation
- Would like recommendations from SSPBT on programs to assist with the Equity gaps.
Suggestion: On Transfer Day instead of just asking for representatives to come on campus, bring in specific groups/alumni for target populations.
Review Equity Funded Positions
SSPBT was asked to approve three positions using equity funds:
- Foster Youth Counselor
- Career Counselor Services
- Veterans Services Counselor
Suggestions were made to the job descriptions that were provided.
The SSPBT committee approved all three positions.
Review SSSP Funded Positions
The SSSP budget has been formulated and the positions needed to be revised based
on actual fund allocation. The three positions that were selected:
- SSSP Service Coordinator (1)
- Counselor (1)
- Student Ambassadors (10)
The SSPBT committee approved all three positions.
Reports from Committees
- Mandy reported on the Banner meeting
- Working on making Argos reports more accessible to users.
- Continuing the discussion on priority registration.
- Robles reported from the Campus Center Advisory Board
- During fall/winter break the Campus Center lower level will be painted.
- Glass bulletin boards will be installed as well.
- Robles also reported from EOPS
- EOPS applied for a San Jose Rotary Club grant in the amount of $10,000.
- If awarded, the money will be used for computers and printers for students.
- Shears reported about the EEO & Faculty Diversity Summit on campus
- Commented on how good the presentation from Kimberly Papillon was and that
it would be nice to have her back on campus again. One particular area was very interesting:- "Summary of and Comment on an fMRI Study on How We Judge People Who
Are like Us and Not like Us."

- Kirkpatrick reported on the status of the Library
- It does look like everyone will move back to the main building in December, most
likely after finals week.
- Argyrioiu reported on the meeting for Common Assessment
- De Anza is currently in the pilot program.
- The goal is to make it accessible to all.
- The decision on the scoring will be defined by each school.
- Working on De Anza and Foothill scoring to be the same.
- Mieso reported on the High School Partner’s Conference
- It was a very successful conference and would like to do a focus group with some
of the attendees.
- Sheila reported on the NASFA conference that she attended
- She networked and made some good contacts for De Anza.
- The information she received will assist with training in the counseling area.
