Review the agenda and approved the notes from the June 8, 2011 meeting.
Debrief of the Joint PBT Meeting on June 14, 2011
Cook provided an update from the Joint PBT meeting which included members of the IPBT
and FERPBT.
Concern expressed that even though we will have to wait until fall to meet again this
will slow down the process of providing these groups with data needed to understand
Student Services priorities.
Feedback from the other PBTs attending included that the SSPBT is far ahead, having
accomplished a lot of work. Cook added she was very proud of the work we have done.
Discussion about the Proposed Priority Criteria for High Demand Courses and Services,
Core Group 1. It appears we are on the same page with Instruction as to the students
in Core Group 1. Emphasized developing an education business plan for moving forward
based on budget reductions.
Need a deeper discussion with the Dean's sooner than later.
IPBT focus is on course offerings and who will teach. It will take time for there
to be an understanding of who our students are.
Need a list of what Instruction can do for Student Services.
Data critical to show what the need is for Basic Skills classes.
Suggestion made to establish a pilot with 100 students.
The college's focus should be to reinforce what we have already decided, who we want
to be and serve, i.e. value statement.
Suggestion that Student Services start a universal design concept to determine how
we will search each core group.
Year End Wrap Up
SSPBT needs representatives appointed by the Academic and Classified Senates if possible
before the end of the year.
Olivia Patan is the SSPBT representative for College Planning. Jim Haynes represents
the SSPBT on the SLOs.
