Instructional Equipment Division Request Approvals –
Espinosa-Pieb presented, “Instructional Equipment for 2016-2017” spreadsheet that was updated based on the parameters that were identified by the team at the previous meetings. She pointed out that after the revisions and addressing requests for appropriate funding; the Instructional contingency fund significantly increased. The members voted to divide just $35,000 of contingency money between 4 divisions for 2016-2017 FY BHES - $15,000 PSME - $15,000 & SSH - $5,000 because these divisions took a significant cut.
Nguyen and Espinosa-Pieb will write a summary from IPBT to the divisions and update the committee in spring quarter.
Espinosa-Pieb used the example of the drone purchase request that came from the Photo department using Strong Workforce funding to suggest that requestors should do a more in depth analysis of their items prior to asking for them. After some research it became apparent that the purchase of a drone requires every individual using the drone to be licensed by the Aviation Association that involves the successful completion of a test. Drones also need to be insured by an outside vendor, which costs approx. $2700 per year. Consequently, it is important to have a total cost of ownership identified in the request.
