I. Activity - Critique of Comprehensive Program Review:
Groups of members critiqued the 2008 Program Review Template relative to 2005 and an example of a program review model from another college. Rich Schroeder explained the history of the 2008 comprehensive program review and the intent to revisit the same content in 2011. He explained that the reason why data was not asked for in the Annual PR update was due to timing and limited data provided in Spring term. The 6 year assessment cycle; the criteria needed to make resource allocations on an annual basis; the strategic initiatives and college mission relative to supporting criteria for a resource request were discussed. Discussion also included the use value of focusing on program level outcomes rather than student learning outcomes.
Tomaneng and Lee-Wheat will bring forth drafts of a revised comprehensive “Mega” program review in future meetings. The goal of the revision is to provide more direction for PR writers. From the revised document, a revised annual program review update can be created. Lee-Wheat will consult the SLO Steering Committee and share the IPBT’s work with the Academic Senate.
