Approximately 50 faculty, staff and administrators gathered to discuss the possible outcomes of the SSPBT reductions. This brainstorming session brought forth questions regarding future processes, union issues and the requests for determining if suggested solutions and readjustments to processes could take place.
Each Vice President summarized their current processes.
Vice President of Instruction Espinosa-Pieb
The IPBT has been reviewing instructional programs, listening to presentations and with the added information gathered at this meeting, plans to recommend program reductions, consolidations with Foothill and shifting of FTES to increase classes that students are demanding. They will be making decisions regarding non-instructional areas.
Vice President of Finance and Educational Resources Jean-Pierre
The FRPBT is also still in discussion with the Supervisors of each area. The staff is so lean at this time that the decisions will be very difficult.
Vice President of Student Services Cook and Co-Chair of SSPBT Glapion, and Managers
SSPBT has listed a number of positions in each area: Admissions and Records, Articulation, Financial, Student Life, Counseling, Outreach
In general, the main concerns were about increased workload upon each area that could result in delays or severely reduced services to students. Also of grave concern was the College’s workforce decreasing in its diversity and most importantly the ability to serve students who are underserved by our society as it is. Student engagement on campus that also lends to persistence/retention, is expected to be impacted.
