Espinosa-Pieb displayed her Faculty Hiring Outcome worksheet and handed back the IPBT members’ original, confidential ranking sheets from last week. She instructed the members to compare their numbers to verify the numbers were accurate. The members confirmed the list was correct.
Having confirmed the worksheet numbers were correct, Espinosa-Pieb handed out the Faculty Ranking For 2015 – 2016 Final Outcome. She reminded the members that only the top 4 positions would be hired:
1) Manufacturing & CNC Tech
2) Biology
3) Environmental Science (1) GE course – Follow the order how it was written on justification
4) English as a Second Language
IPBT voted to fill the 5th position (one position down -English) on the list if an additional retirement comes in by March 15, 2015.
The rest of the positions will go into the pool for next year’s voting.
The need was emphasized for the following areas:
English - always need an instructor, high demand classes
Chicano (a) Studies - large Latino student population
Environmental Studies - De Anza is committed to sustainability. Recently added to GE requirements.
The recommendation to the College Council would be to approve 4 faculty positions with the 5th position pending. Once approved the hiring process can move forward.
