Discussion: The Muckraking Impulse in Dystopian Fiction
11/15/2023
10:30 am to 12:00 pm
L-47 (Language and Communications Village Center)
Join Professor Steve Howland for a discussion about dystopian fiction.
Dystopian fictions extend real world trends, ideas, and technologies forward in time, with dramatic consequences. And like other kinds of storytelling, contemporary dystopian literary fiction reflects its readers' concerns--that is, it reflects what it’s like to be a feeling/thinking/reading person alive today. We’ll engage with this theme through discussion, media, levity and gravity.
