UI/UX AND MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT – BEGINNING TO
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
(Grades 3-6 and 7-12) (559)
This course covers best practices and conventions in UI/UX design, while teaching students to apply them to creating effective and compelling apps. Students will learn the process of UX and mobile app design, while exploring the differences between designing
for iOS and Android apps. The class will create mockups and animated prototypes, using such tools as Figma, before creating a small mobile app based on the UI developed in class.
Instructor: Jasneet Matta has a master’s degree in information technology from Mumbai University and has taught students in grade school through college. She thrives on teaching students to grow socially and academically, while helping them gain self-confidence through motivation and encouragement.
Class requirements: Tablet, laptop or desktop computer with internet capability.
Cost: $215 Dates and times:
Grades 3-6: Aug. 23 and 30, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27, Oct. 4 and 11
(eight Sundays), 1-2:20 p.m.
Grades 7-12: Aug. 23 and 30, Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27, Oct. 4 and 11

ADVANCED LEVEL

Students will dive more deeply into best practices and conventions in UI/UX design as they apply them to create effective and compelling app experiences. The class will cover the process of UX and mobile app design. Students will learn the differences between designing hybrid and native apps, and how to choose the correct strategy for development. The class will also create advanced mockups and animated prototypes for different scenarios and experiences, using such tools as Figma. Finally, students will design a mobile app with user interaction based on the UI created in class.
