Important Update on Submitting Vaccination Records

If you are having difficulty submitting your COVID-19 vaccination record or if the registration system says you are not in compliance even though you submitted your vaccination record more than 3 days ago, you can get assistance by sending an email to Nazy Galoyan, dean of Enrollment Services. Please send the email to galoyannazy@deanza.edu and be sure to include your full name, your 8-digit CWID number and a copy of your vaccination document. (It may take 1-2 days for you to receive a response.)

The Bookstore has temporarily disabled the financial aid payment option for its online store only, while the Bookstore operator upgrades its online security protocols. The financial aid payment option is expected to return soon. This does not affect in-person purchases at the Bookstore on campus.

Next Tuesday: Run Hide, Defend – Active Assailant Training

The Foothill-De Anza Community College District Police Department is offering a "Run, Hide, Defend" training session next Tuesday, Oct. 11, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B. This training course for students, faculty and staff will provide a brief overview of campus safety awareness and response in the event of an active assailant. A virtual session will also be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15. Learn more and register to attend here.

This year's collegewide commencement ceremony will be held in the Stadium on Friday, June 24, beginning at 6 p.m. Face masks are strongly recommended for everyone attending this event.

Arrive a little early so you can check out the Red Carpet Graduation Photo Op in Parking Lot C, with fun backdrops and cutouts for selfies and pics with your family or friends. 

Please visit deanza.edu/graduation for the latest updates, including the Graduation Slideshow, profiles of our student Grad Speaker and major award winners, and a complete list of year-end celebrations.

  • You can still shop for regalia at the Bookstore on campus, on the first floor of the Registration & Student Services (RSS) building. (It's too late to order items online.) The Bookstore is open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. through Thursday and will remain open until 4 p.m. on Friday

COVID-19 Testing Available on Campus

Free PCR testing is now available two days a week outside the Campus Center, near the Student Health Services entrance on the lower level. No appointment is needed but one-time preregistration is required.

California will hold a statewide election on June 7, with nonpartisan contests for important local offices, along with primaries for legislative and statewide offices – including governor, U.S. Senate and more. Now there are two ways you can get a free PCR test for COVID-19 on campus. No appointment is needed but one-time preregistration is required.

  • On foot: Mondays from 1-3 p.m. – outside the Campus Center near the Student Health Center entrance on the lower level
  • In your car: Wednesdays from 12:30-4:30 p.m. – drive-thru testing available in Parking Lot A
  • See the Health Services COVID-19 Information page for detailed instructions, updates and more resources.

At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits Available from Santa Clara County Libraries

This week, the Santa Clara County Library District will distribute free home-testing kits at six library locations. No appointments are necessary and tests will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. N95 masks will also be distributed while supplies last. Protect Yourself From Online Scams

Never provide your personal or financial information in response to a request that you didn't expect.

  • De Anza College and other legitimate employers will not ask you to pay money to be considered for a job.

Remember: Scammers can pretend to be from an organization you know.

  • Resist the pressure to act immediately. If you have questions, stop and talk to someone you trust before you do anything.
  • Never pay someone who insists you pay by gift card or money transfer service. Never deposit a check and send money back to someone.
  • Do not click on any links if an email looks suspicious.

Free Home COVID Test Kits Available at De Anza – Students Only

De Anza students can pick up a free home-testing kit for COVID-19 outside the Student Health Services office this Monday, while supplies last.

  • One antigen test kit per student per week
  • You must be registered at De Anza this quarter and taking classes, either on campus or online. Sorry, no friends or family members
  • Available while supplies last from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Jan. 31, Feb. 7 and Feb. 14

Pick up your test kit outside the Lower Level entrance to the Campus Center (near the Health Services office)

  • You must bring a photo ID and provide your CWID to get your kit
  • Remember to wear a face mask and practice social distancing

On-Campus Classes Update

Most classes that moved temporarily online this month will be brought back on campus beginning Monday, Jan. 31. Students should check with their instructor if they have questions.

If a student in an on-campus class tests positive for COVID-19, the class will be moved online for at least five days, under new county guidelines. The class may resume on campus if all students test negative after five days; if not, the class may be held online for a total of 10 days.

Students and employees are eligible to pick up free at-home COVID-19 antigen test kits at one of four locations in Santa Clara County, including Foothill College. You must sign up and make an appointment at sccfreetest.org to pick up the kits (no drop-ins).

Vax Proof Required to Enter Library and RSS Building

  • You must show your vaccination card before entering these buildings
  • Students with verified exemptions must show proof of negative result for a COVID lab test administered in the previous 72 hours.

Have you been boosted? The CDC and state health authorities recommend getting a COVID-19 booster as soon as you're eligible. Visit the COVID-19 Information webpage for more information about eligibility and how to find a vaccination site near you.
