Clinical Chemistry I Lecture
Course Description
Fundamental principles of clinical chemistry will be presented. Topics include: laboratory math, basic supplies and equipment, testing variables, and analytical techniques. Detailed theory of enzymes, electrolytes, acid-base, trace metals, carbohydrates, cardiac, amino acids, proteins, porphyrins will be included. Basic quality control will be introduced. Correlating test results with disease states will be accomplished. This course must be successfully completed in order to qualify for the clinical externship and take the licensing exam.

HTEC 085C-.01Z: To enroll in this course there is a selective admission process. For enrollment information contact MLTProgram@fhda.edu. This course is a once per year course and is required for the MLT certificate or degree. Co-Requisite, must be taken with HTEC-085A. This is an online class that meets each week on scheduled days and times as noted in the class listing. Exams, quizzes may include being on campus (in-person). Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests
