CREATING ART LIKE THE
MASTERS

This course reviews eight renowned
art masters from art history – including Matisse, Picasso and O’Keeffe. Students will be encouraged to imitate the style
of each artist, as taught in class, and to experiment with each artist’s techniques while developing a masterpiece of their own. No art experience is required.
Instructor: Viviana Leija-Sysak is a visual artist who has worked in television production and as an art instructor in a variety of media, from drawing to video animation.
Class requirements: Tablet, laptop or desktop computer with internet capability; watercolor pad with at least 10 pages; watercolor set with at least primary colors plus black; construction paper in a variety of colors; at least one brush; pencil (any type); eraser (any type); scissors and a glue stick
Cost: $165
Dates and times: Choose Session 1 or 2
Session 1: Aug. 20 and 27, Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24, Oct. 1 and 8 (eight Thursdays), 6-7 p.m.
Session 2: Oct. 15, 22 and 29, Nov. 5, 12 and 19, Dec. 3 and 10 (eight Thursdays; no class on Nov. 26), 6-7 p.m.

Students in this course will learn the fundamentals of C++ programming in a friendly and supportive environment, using integrated development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, and gaining the core skills needed to program any application. Students will become familiar with C++ elements including variables, data types, conditional execution, loops, functions, pointers
and structures – while breaking down problems into sub-problems before writing their own programs and integrating input and output, calculations, decision making and loops into a project.
Instructor: Pragati Dharmale has taught for more than 12 years in schools and industry, including courses in engineering and programming languages. She has also worked as a senior design engineer for Whirlpool in India, a web and software developer for Resource Navigation in Boston, and a data security processor for Intuit in Tucson.
Class requirements: Tablet, laptop or desktop computer with internet capability
