Transfer Requirements Overview - UC
If you are planning to transfer to the UC from De Anza College, you can improve your chances for admission and successful transfer with careful planning and course selection. You should become with the transfer requirements for the UC campus of your choice. It is helpful to research college catalogs and campus Web sites, take a tour of the campus, and if possible, speak with admission representatives from the UC prior to the application filing period. Some admission representatives from the UC schedule periodic visits to De Anza College.
Preparation for Transfer: UC
As a prospective transfer applicant you should review and have a basic understanding of UC admission requirements and focus on satisfying as many of these requirements at De Anza College prior to transfer, which will make you eligible to enroll in the upper-division level at the UC and ensure more timely progress towards UC graduation.
If you are undecided on a major, you should focus on completing lower-division general education (GE) requirements first, especially for math and English. Most of the GE courses listed on the IGETC pattern are transferable to the UC and will also meet admission requirements. However, be sure to check the ASSIST Web site for a list of transfer limitations to the UC.
If you are uncertain which UC campus to attend, or if you want to prepare for as many UC campuses as possible, the UC Statewide Transfer Preparation Paths can help you identify common requirements and major preparation course work that will prepare you for transfer to multiple UC campuses. If you have a specific major and UC campus in mind, visit the UC Major Preparation Paths to review both the required and suggested transfer by major or by campus.
