Planning for the ADT
  1. Review the ADT requirements for your major carefully.  Required courses are listed in the College Catalog but the most current information is available online on De Anza's AA-T/AS-T Degrees website.

  2. Attend an ADT Information Session - if available.
(NOTE: Session dates are limited and subject to staffing availability. Please check the website above periodically throughout the quarter for updates.)

  3. If you have coursework outside of Foothill-De Anza, request to have those transcripts sent to De Anza College immediately AND request to have them evaluated.

  4. Meet with a De Anza College counselor to develop your education plan to meet this goal.
Applying for the ADT Degree
  1. CSU TRANSFER STUDENTS: Apply to CSU during the appropriate application filing period.
    • You are urged to apply during the priority filing period (October and November for the fall term and the first month of the filing period for all other terms).
    • For winter/spring/summer transfer, check to see which campuses are accepting applications.
    • If applying after the priority filing period for any term, check to see which campuses are still accepting applications AND consult with the CSU campus Admission Office regarding ADT benefits.

ALL OTHER STUDENTS (NON-CSU TRANSFER STUDENTS): Only step #3 below is required. Your ADT petition will be processed in the same time frame as other De Anza College AA/AS degrees.

  2. You MUST indicate on the CSU Admissions Application that you will be receiving the ADT, specifying the major and expected completion date.

  3. Complete the Eligibility Self-Assessment Form for your major: (click on major below - winter/spring 2015 transfers)

Administration of Justice Early Childhood Education Mathematics
    Business Administration History Political Science
    Communication Studies Kinesiology Sociology

If eligible, meet with a De Anza College counselor/academic adviser to file your Petition for Graduation for the ADT.
WARNING: the Liberal Arts degree is NOT an ADT.

If you have coursework from outside Foothill-De Anza, be sure ALL transcripts are on file (and have been evaluated) at De Anza College before applying for the degree.

CSU applicants for winter/spring 2015: If you plan on completing the ADT requirements this fall, you must petition for the degree by October 15, 2014 to meet CSU's verification deadline and receive admission benefits associated with this degree.

CSU applicants - subsequent transfer terms: Deadline dates will be posted as soon as De Anza receives this information from CSU.

  4. Verification of ADT for Winter/Spring 2015 CSU Transfer Applicants
If you file the Petition for Graduation for the ADT by October 15, 2014, and had correctly identified your intention to receive the ADT degree on your CSU Admissions Application, De Anza will verify your ADT status with CSU.  This verification acknowledges you are on-track to receive the degree at the end of fall 2014 and have submitted your petition to graduate. (If you decide not to pursue the degree or are unable to complete the requirements by the end of fall 2014, you are responsible for informing your selected CSU campus of this change in ADT status.  De Anza will not be able to retract verifications.)

If you are a winter/spring 2015 CSU applicant who will be eligible to receive the ADT at the end of fall 2014, but did not report your intention to receive the ADT degree on your CSU Application, you must inform your selected CSU campus that you expect to receive this degree before transfer.  Assuming you applied to an approved ADT "similar" major at that campus, your name will be added to their ADT verification list and De Anza will be able to verify your status if you submit the Petition for Graduation for the ADT by October 15, 2014.  It is your responsibility to work with your CSU to make sure your name has been properly added to their ADT list.

Note: If you submitted your CSU Application during the priority filing period, and correctly identified the ADT degree and your expected completion date, you will  be contacted by a De Anza College representative with information on this process and timeline.  Please check your email account often.

Late "Verification of ADT" Requests for Winter/Spring 2015
Graduation Petitions received after October 15, 2014 for fall 2014 completion will be processed to award the degree BUT the CSU ADT Verification may not be generated in time to meet CSU's October 31, 2014 deadline.  After October 31, verification will not be possible for winter/spring 2015 transfers.

CSU applicants - subsequent transfer terms: Deadline dates will be posted as soon as De Anza receives this information from CSU.

  5. Follow all instructions provided by CSU and De Anza College and request to have De Anza College (and all applicable) transcripts sent to CSU.  Read the transcript request information carefully - including the section at the bottom of the page.

The ADT awarded will be noted on your De Anza College transcript - which CSU will reference to verify degree completion.
