This program is designed to support each student taking English Writing 200, Language Arts 200 and/or Reading 200 with flexible, personalized options. CAS is a required homework assignment for all students in these classes. View the printable Activity Menu here.

 Small group module
Small Group Learning Modules
Four-part modules on verbs and/or vocabulary
One to one tutor session
Peer Tutoring
Weekly Individual Tutoring or Drop-in Tutoring in writing and/or reading
  • Sign up early for one-to-one peer tutoring at a set time each week. Click here for an application.

  • Or, drop in for peer tutoring. First come, first served--at the WRC's front desk.

  • Students bring assignments from their class.

SSC Workshop

 

Workshops
Small group, one-time workshops to increase your writing, reading, and study skills
Workshop topics include these and more:
  • Warming up to the Writing Process: Prewriting

  • Effective Body Paragraphs

  • Creating Dynamic Thesis Statements

  • Avoiding Fragments and Run-on Sentences

  • Active Reading: Mark up Those Texts!

  • Goal Setting

  • Taking Notes in Class

Students:
  • After each activity, be sure to get a SSC staff member to verify completion.

  • Please do not lose your Activity Menu. You are responsible for submitting it to your instructor at the end of the quarter.
