Electronic Course Reserves

Now your students can access electronic Course Reserve materials from any computer connected to the web. Materials for electronic course reserves can be submitted in a number of ways.

  • You can submit URLs for library owned electronic items. We can add a direct link in your reserve list.  For instance, the library subscribes to thousands of electronic books.

  • Links to other web sites or to journal articles available through a De Anza Library database  can be placed on course reserve pages.

  • Text or images can be scanned. Files such as Word, Adobe PDF, Powerpoint, .wav can be uploaded directly to your reserve list.

  • Hard copies can be faxed in to the system.

  • Office hours, the names of teaching assistants, and other information can also be posted, and instructors can create discussion boards for their classes.

Docutek ERes

Docutek ERes is the name of the company and system that the De Anza Library uses for electronic reserves.  Faculty are responsible for managing their own course reserve pages once they have requested and received their Docutek ERes account.  Reserves Supervisor, Keri Kirkpatrick and Librarian, Alex Swanner are available for questions and general assistance with the system.

To place materials on Electronic Reserve...
  1. Fill out the Docutek Account Regsitration Form (below) and return it to Keri Kirkpatrick at the Library either as an email attachment to kirkpatrickkeri@deanza.edu, or through interdepartmental mail.
  2. Keri will email you your default username and password within 2 days of the receipt of your form; you may change these when you log in to your account for the first time.
  3. If you would like an overview of how the system works, please contact Keri Kirkpatrick at (408) 864-8759 or kirkpatrickkeri@deanza.edu and make an appointment to come to the library for a tutorial
