Income Tax Information for International StudentsAll F-1 visa students, whether they work or not, are required to submit documentation to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax purposes. The ISP office is not able to advise students on how to file taxes, so please use the resources referenced on this page for assistance. This Tax Workshop Handout is a reference for U.S. tax forms that you might encounter.

Special Note: Please do not use other software packages to help you file your taxes since they are not designed to understand complex non-resident tax issues, such as tax treaties, etc. Moreover, the IRS does not currently allow Forms 1040NR and 1040NR-EZ to be filed electronically. Remember, ISP staff CANNOT advise you on HOW to fill out your taxes! |
