International F-1 Visa students seeking full time admission cannot apply online. Applicants MUST submit the International Student Application Form with ALL supporting documents to the International Student Programs (ISP)    Office.

Students must be 16 years old at least 1 month prior to the beginning of a quarter AND have graduated from secondary/high school to be eligible for admission to De Anza College.


All application documents, including the application form and supporting documents MUST be original or certified;


no faxes, scans or copies are accepted.



Please download the Admission Check List

  1. Complete, sign, and return the application form.
  2. Submit proof of English proficiency. See page 4 of the application for more information on minimum test scores.
  3. Complete the Confidential Financial Statement on page 3, which must be signed by the person guaranteeing your financial support. Submit an original bank letter dated within the last 6 months with an of official signature on bank letterhead that verifies the current balance in USD of your account or your sponsor’s/ guardian’s account.
  4. Submit original or certified English translations of your secondary and post-secondary transcripts.
  5. Attach a recent photograph to page 2.
  6. Submit a non-refundable credit card authorization for the 75.00 USD application fee and a non- refundable 75.00 USD express mailing/courier fee to send your acceptance documents outside the U.S.
  7. Declare your major. You must choose from our list.
  8. Submit a Dependent(s) Information Form for spouse and child (if they plan to reside with you in the U.S.)

NOTE: All documents submitted to De Anza College as part of the application become the property of the college. This is a common practice among schools in the U.S. Students should always request more than one set of their transcripts for other future needs.

Students who wish to change their current immigration status to F-1 can find information from the following U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website:

The ISP Office at De Anza College will be able to issue a change of status I-20 to eligible applicants only. Students holding visitor’s visa B2, will only be issued initial I-20 and they must return to their home country to obtain the F-1 Visa.

ISP DOES NOT provide any advice on Change of Status. Students should consult with an immigration attorney.

Intensive Summer ESL Course

If your TOEFL score is between 475 and 499 (CBT: between 151 & 172, iBT between 52 & 60, IELTS 5.0) and you would like to apply to De Anza for the fall quarter, you can attend our Intensive Summer ESL Course, an eight-week language study course which guarantees you admission to De Anza in the following fall quarter upon successful completion. Check out the link for more information and application procedures.

Cost International students on the F-1 visa pay $191.00 per unit. Students are required to enroll in a minimum of 12 units (full time) each quarter. Please see the International Student Application Form for an outline of all fees and estimated expenses.

transferring from another U.S. school

If you are transferring to De Anza College from another U.S. school, it is required that both you and the school you are currently enrolled at, complete the Transfer Release Form and submit it to the ISP office.

Transfer In students must provide the following additional documents:

  • -copy of current school I-20
  • -copy of your F-1 Visa (in your passport)

NOTE: students in Completed or Terminated SEVIS status WILL NOT be accepted. Consult with the admission coordinator for other options.


Minor Students

Applicants who are less than 18 years of age must complete and return to the ISP office the Parent/Guardian Authorization form before they can be allowed to register for classes.

  • Students must be at least 16 years old AND have graduated from secondary/high school at least one month prior to the start of the quarter to be eligible for admission.
  • Minors students taking the IGCSE must provide official transcripts showing 5 minimum subjects with grades C or better. One of the subjects MUST be English or ESL.
  • Students with preliminary IGCSE score reports will be subject to review and approval of the admission coordinator. If unacceptable, the final IGCSE results must be provided before proceeding with the admission.
  • Minors students who do not have the IGCSE, MUST provide an official diploma stating they have successfully completed secondary/high school.
  • Without any of the above, the student will NOT be admitted.

Health Insurance

All F-1 international students enrolled in De Anza college are required to purchase and subscribe to the health insurance selected by the district office. Please read more about it here.
