Federal Income Tax HelpUniversity of Texas at Austin International Office has designed a web site to assist international students, scholars, researchers and other nonresident aliens in preparing U.S. tax returns and required declaration statements at no cost to the user.The University of Texas at Austin welcomes users from across the nation to access their site. They built the site with the intent of affording their students easy access to information and enabling them to become self-sufficient in the preparation of necessary federal and local forms. This site contains step-by-step instructions for determining which forms are required, Frequently Asked Questions, and many links to sites with additional information about the federal tax filing requirements of nonresident aliens. The site includes many up-to-date examples of the required forms and a complete list of treaties that may affect the tax treatment of various types of income. The site is designed to accommodate both experienced and novice filers with the ability to download forms and/or access easy to follow guides to preparing both returns and declaration statements.
Some of the information on the web site is specific to University of Texas-Austin student body. Users outside of the University are encouraged to check with their educational institution's respective office handling International aspects for questions that may be pertinent to their state and local area. A significant advantage to the University's web site is its global access.
