The meeting was called to order at 2:34 a quorum being present.
I. Approval of Agenda and Notes: The agenda was approved as distributed with a change in the title of Item III to "Next steps in the Academic Senate officer vacancy".
The notes of June 18th were approved as distributed with minor corrections.
II. Needs and Confirmations: Michael Chang, Tom Dolen, Ben Kline, Carlos Mujal, Terry Ellis, David Howard-Pitney, Clara Lam, and Maryanne Ifft were confirmed for service on tenure review committees. Rebecca Liljenstolpe was confirmed for service on the Catalyst Features Subcommittee.
III. Next Steps Regarding the Academic Senate President Position: At the beginning of the item Chenoweth was congratulated for accepting the position of Senate President for 2007-2008. A lengthy discussion ensued concerning the now vacant Vice President position for 2007-2008. Several possibilities were discussed. The situation of a vacancy occurring between election and the beginning of the term of office is unprecedented and unanticipated by the standard procedures of the organization. At the end of the discussion the group decided to offer the Vice President position to Dan Mitchell for the summer with a decision about the remainder of the 2007-2008 term scheduled for the beginning of Fall 2007.
IV. Good of the Order: - Hearn was thanked for her service as President.
- Gallegos announced that the final hip Hop Outreach activity of the year will be Thursday, June 28th, in P.E. 15.
