About Me

DIANA FLEMING has been a full-time instructor with the Language Arts Division of De Anza College since 2000. She teaches college composition courses, at both Introduction and Intermediate levels; literature courses; and Basic Skills-level writing strategies. Assigned readings tend to focus on themes of ethnic and cultural identities; socio-economic and psychological influences; gender studies; feminist perspectives; and new historical literary critical theory.  She also advises and coaches her students on Transfer Student College Application writing responses.

Fleming's various past, and current, involvements include:  Adelante Bridge Program Instructor at San Jose City College; APASA (Asian Pacific Staff Association member); English Department Hiring Committee member; Equal Opportunity Hiring Representative for other departments; and Tenure Chairperson roles.  Her most recent Professional Development research project centered on identifying effective pedagogy for Multilingual Student Writing, along with studying Basic Mandarin.

When not teaching, Fleming enjoys spending time with her husband and son. Her hobbies and interests include interior design and styling; fashion history and wardrobe styling; film studies; enjoying various cuisines; and of course, reading literature.
