Andean Countries:
- Video of large siku ensemble in Puno, Peru.
- Gotta love it--"professional" video of group performing huayno; it's really corny, but is really close to the popular mestizo style of music-making in the Andes (some Western instruments), and has some good footage of the dance. Bomba is not present in this video, but the shaker is playing the huayno rhythm more or less intact.
- Coastal Peru: Mestizo music with african influence.EnciƩndete Candelauses the cajon (mentioned in textbook), the cejada (donkey jawbone rattle), cajita (little wooden box) for percussion. Notice the polyrhythmic nature of the music, with clear call and response structure. Even the guitar is played very percussively! (Source: Soul of Black Peru. Luaka Bop recods, 2000).
- Nice photo of Late Titicaca (12,000 ft. above sea level!)
