Confused about filing your taxes?You can get free assistance with filling out your tax return by meeting with a trained volunteer with the VITA program, sponsored by the United Way.
Sign up for an appointment to meet online with a trained volunteer. Appointments are available every Wednesday from Feb. 7-April 10, between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

• To qualify for this service, you must have earned less than $79,000 last year.
• International students who had income and need to file a 1040-NR are welcome.

You'll need to provide the following during your online appointment:

• Proof of identification
• Social Security card or Social Security number verification letter for you, your spouse and dependents
• Birthdates for you, your spouse and dependents
• Current year's tax package, if you received one
• Wage and earning statements (Forms W-2, W-2G or 1099-R) from all employers
• Interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099)
• Proof of health insurance (Forms 1095-A, 1095-B or 1095-C)
• Copies of your federal and state tax returns for the previous year
• Bank routing number and account number for direct deposit
• Print-out of Form 1098-T (your De Anza educational expenses), which you can find on MyPortal

If you are married and filing jointly, both spouses must be present to sign the forms for electronic filing.
