Queer and Now Conference 2019: Self-Care is Community Care

Queer and Now is the annual LGBTQ+ conference at De Anza College that focuses on the broader and local LGBTQ+ community, student success, equity, intersectionality and social justice concerns. Please let us know if you plan to attend by registering online.

The schedule is as follows:
  • 10:30 a.m. Keynote by Trinidad Escobar, a Pinay poet, illustrator and comic artist who works on queering and decolonizing representation in her art
  • 1:30 p.m. De Anza Student Panel discussing intersectional issues related to self-care and community care
  • 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Breakout sessions with workshops such as “Creating Safe(r) Spaces on Campus,” “Empowerment in Storytelling,” “The 100K Masks Challenge,” and “A Chingona’s Guide: The Journey of Sexuality”
There will be a resource fair throughout the day with tables from community organizations such as the LGBTQ Youth Space, the Bill Wilson Center and the De Anza SAGA Club. We will also be offering refreshments and student performances during the lunch hour.
