The DARE High School Partners project brings high school and college faculty and staff together to discuss the connection between high school curriculum, college placement, and the roles of faculty and counseling to better prepare students for the community college experience.  It is designed to create opportunities to share data, pedagogy, and align outcomes and expectations, which will lead to better student preparation and more formally link the high school experience to college placement and course requirements.

Areas of Focus

The High School Project team has identified the following focus areas for spring 2013:

  1. Establish a data sharing process with local high schools to better understand student course taking patterns and student success at both the high school and college levels. Invite Andrew to provide a status update on CALPASS and FUHSD data sharing process/agreement.

  2. Follow up with FUHSD on the possibility of working with one high school to pilot proposed strategies.

  3. Follow up with high school math instructors that attending previous collaborative meeting with De Anza math Department to explore further collaborations.

  4. Extend invitation to De Anza Math and Language Arts faculty to take the ACCUPLACER placement test.

  5. Update project website
