Men's Soccer defeated West Valley by 1-0 in the third round of the NorCal playoffs.

The contest went into overtime for the second consecutive playoff game. The overtime ended 0-0. The match went into a penalty shoot out with De Anza winning on the 8th penalty kick.

Guy Elgar (Homestead HS) scored the winning PK. Goalie Carlos Mendez (Independence HS) made two big saves in the PKS.

This was the biggest win in program history for Men's Soccer since winning the state championship in 1997. Congratulations to Rusty Johnson, Roheet Sen and the team.

The Dons will play Mount San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) at Mt. SAC on Friday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. in the state semifinal match. The winner of that game will play for the championship at Mt. SAC on Sunday, Dec. 7. De Anza is 18-1-3 and Mt. SAC is 13-4-6.

Men's Soccer will play West Valley in the NorCal 3rd Round on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at De Anza to determine who will play for the state championship Dec. 5-7.
 
West Valley, the Coast Conference South champions, defeated South Lake Tahoe in PK's today, with a record of 16-1-4.
 
De Anza's record is 19-1-1, defeating City College of San Francisco in a penalty kick shootout 2-1 final score during the NorCal 2nd Round. De Anza holds the 2014 Coast Conference Central title.

Men's Soccer defeated Hartnell by the score of 1-0 to win their first Coast Conference championship since 2010. This is Men's Soccer's 22nd Coast Conference championship win. De Anza is now 18-1-1, with Hartnell, last year's state champions, at 15-3-3.
 
Because De Anza is seeded #2 in NorCal, the team will play on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m. at De Anza in the Second Round NorCal game against the winner of the Las Positas and CCSF game. View the full tournament bracket listing here.

Additionally first year Head Coach Mark "Rusty" Johnson was named the Coast Conference Coach of the Year. Congratulations to Coaches Johnson and Roheet Sen, as well as all the student-athletes.

The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams qualified for the eighth straight year to the California Community Colleges state cross country championships in Fresno on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Men's and Women's Water Polo ended the Coast Conference tournament 4-0 in the last four games played.

The women's team finished 5th in the Conference, the highest finish in the last five years. Pailin Coy was awarded First Team All-Conference and Thuy Phi was awarded Second Team All-Conference.

The men's team finished third in conference, upsetting Cabrillo College in the conference tournament. Scott Reynolds was awarded First Team All-Conference, Second Team All-Northern California, and All American Honors for the second time. Jackson Zeigler, Jefferson Yao, and Afsheen Khrosvhiani were awarded Second Team All Conference.

The Men's Soccer team will play against defending state champion Hartnell College at De Anza on Friday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m for the Coast Conference Championship. Both teams have 10 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie in Coast Conference play. Join on Friday to cheer on the De Anza Dons, currently ranked fifth in the state. Hartnell is ranked ninth.

We are close to the end of the season for Fall sports, and Winter sports are starting. Here are some upcoming contests. Pick a game to attend to support student athletes!
 
FALL SPORTS
Both Men's and Women's Cross Country teams finished second place in the Coast Conference and are going to the NorCal Championship at Crystal Springs in Belmont on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. The State Championship is on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. in Fresno.

Football needs your support against City College San Francisco at De Anza on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. Then the team plays at Foothill on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m.
 
Men's Soccer is at 16 wins and one loss, ranked in the National Top 10 all year. Current ranking is six (6). Check out these home games: The team plays Skyline on Friday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. and Hartnell at on Friday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m.
 
Women's Soccer needs a couple wins to go to the playoffs. Come to the next home game to  support the team against West Valley on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m.
 
Women's Volleyball also needs a couple wins to go to the playoffs. Mark your calendar for these home games: The team plays Cabrillo on Friday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. and Monterey Peninsula on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m.
 
Men's and Women's Water Polo will compete in the Coast Conference Championships at West Valley on Friday, Nov. 7. Time to be determined.
 
WINTER SPORTS
Both Men's and Women's Basketball are just starting out for the season. Here's a list of upcoming home games. The men's team plays Canada on Wednesday,  Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.; Napa on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.; and CCSF on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. The women's team plays Shasta on Friday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. and Delta on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 5 p.m.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Members of the Men's and Women's Soccer teams are wearing pink uniforms during home games to raise awareness about the disease.

The De Anza Men's Soccer Team is ranked #8 in the nation as of the Junior College Division III Men National Poll 7 on Tuesday, Oct. 14, dropping from the #2 ranking, held the previous two consecutive weeks. The team has a record of 10 wins and 1 loss. The next home game is against Gavilan College on Friday, Oct. 24, at 4 p.m.  There is no charge for admission. See the Mens' Soccer schedule for away games.

2014 Women's Soccer Team

The De Anza Women's Soccer Team will play at De Anza again on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m., against Skyline College.

Show your support for both teams by coming to the games, wearing pink and cheering on the players!
