Adapted Physical Education

How to Assist in APE

Click here for a summary of responsibilities and expectations of being a student assistant in the APE program.

The Adapted Physical Education program depends on trained student assistants and volunteers who are interested in and willing to work with people with disabilities in the exercise classroom.  It is an opportunity for hands-on experience and great to put on your resume/transcript.  Many assistants go on to become

  • physical therapists
  • physical therapy assistants
  • massage therapists
  • occupational therapists,
  • recreational therapists
  • adapted physical educators
  • personal trainers
  • physical educators
  • nurses
  • chiropractors
Many others continue their education in completely unrelated fields.  Either way, it is an opportunity to build skills working with a diverse population.

We are looking for assistants and volunteers who enjoy working with people! No previous training is necessary. Please contact Cindy Lee for more information.
